Selective doesn’t have to mean opaque. Here’s exactly what we’re looking for, how we read what you send, and who this is and isn’t for, so you can decide before you spend a minute on it.
What we're actually selecting for
One thing, mostly: people who build. Not people who talk about building, plan to build next quarter, or are “exploring the space.” Founders who will open a laptop on day two and ship something real by day seven.
Around that, three things make a cohort great rather than just full: range (different problems, different stacks, different stories), generosity (you’ll get as much from helping others as from your own build), and a genuinely high bar for the work. We’d rather leave a seat empty than fill it with a maybe.
How we read your application
A human reads every application, start to finish, every time. We care more about specifics than polish: what you’re building, what you’ve actually shipped, and what one week off-grid would unlock for you. A rough, honest answer beats a buffed-up one.
We do use AI to help us read faster and more fairly: it summarises and flags, so nothing gets skimmed on a busy day. It never makes the decision. A person does, and a person can always overrule it.
What the week really is
Seven days, a small group, somewhere quiet. The days are long, protected build blocks: no meetings, no noise. Mentors and operators are on hand when you need them, some on-site and some a video call away. Evenings are for dinners, a sauna, the occasional hike. On day seven you pitch what you built to the cohort and an invited panel.
It is not a retreat, not a course, and not a networking junket with a logo on a lanyard. If you want a holiday, this is the wrong week. If you want to ship the thing you keep not shipping, surrounded by people doing the same, it’s the right one.
Who probably shouldn't apply
People looking mainly to raise rather than to build. People who can’t clear a full week. People who want to observe more than make. None of these are character flaws; they’re just a bad fit for what this week is, and we’d rather say so up front than waste your deposit and your time.
The money, plainly
A small application fee holds your application, fully refunded only if we can’t offer you a place. If you’re accepted, the trip fee covers the lodge, the food, the build, and the summit; it isn’t a profit engine: every euro goes into the week itself.
And the honest part
This is our first cohort. There’s no alumni list to point at and no highlight reel to show you, and we’re not going to invent one. What we can promise is a small, hand-built week and a real say in what noclue becomes. You’d be a founding member, not a number. We built the thing we’d want to be invited to.
